The Churchill Trust was set up in the wake of Winston Churchill’s death to provide opportunities for Australian citizens and permanent residents to travel overseas to conduct research in their chosen field. The aim is to reward individuals who possess a passion and a commitment to make a difference in Australian society.

My own Churchill fellowship was instrumental in connecting me with some of the most talented and influential shoemakers across Japan, masters that I am now proud to call my friends and colleagues and without whom I would not be where I am today.

I would encourage all makers and creators that are committed to enriching the modern Australian arts culture to apply for a Churchill Fellowship. Travel overseas, learn from others and apply your learnings to your own work.
